4 Habits of Healthy Families
 

JANUARY HEALTH CALENDAR AND TIPS

In January we observe:

  • Birth Defects Prevention Month
  • Family Fit Lifestyle Month
  • Blood Donor month
  • Oatmeal Month
  • Soup Month
  • Fiber Focus Month
  • Cervical Health Month
  • Hot Tea Month
  • Prune Breakfast Month
  • Healthy Weight Week (week of Jan 17)
  • Salt Awareness Week (week of Jan 24th)

 

TIPS OF THE MONTH

If you just make "a habit" out of some of the awareness observances, you've got a list of "new habits" for the new year:

  • Start an exercise program
  • Have a morning bowl of oatmeal
  • Add some prunes to the oatmeal or snack on them
  • Go whole grain to add more fiber to your daily diet
  • Drink unsweetened tea daily as your beverage of choice (with water)
  • Watch the salt in foods
  • Weigh yourself and get a baseline waist measurement
